"Attached"

My palms cup shoulder blades
and your cheek nestles besides mine.
Black silky bangs brush against my ear,
and I feel the soft, deep breathing.
An arm presses me into your chest
while a delicate hand cradles my head. Warm words, curling fingers, gentle noses, clear eyes that sparkle with trust and hope.
"Why do I become so attached?" you ask.
"Don't ever forget how," I reply. We hug until sleep surrounds us, and we melt into a puddle.

An Ode To Love

How often do I glimpse you in the countenance of friends!   Your smile warms my blood  and keeps me human.  Your eyes spark in my imagination the lights of terribly beautiful truths.   Who am I that you should love me, or that I am born to love  without a whole heart, born to fly without wings, born to run without legs? Oh, Dearest!  That any number of cripples should fall across each others’ path and call it love is evidence enough of your transcendent and eternal quality!

If Jesus Ran Sunday School

If Jesus ran Sunday school, he would teach children about the parables.  Perhaps he would just play with them and show them how much he loved them.  He would not attempt to explain Christian theology. Theology would come out of an understanding of the connections between parables and experience, between God's character and our character. If you do not want to relearn Truth as an adult, learn to recognize it as a child.  May our convictions simply become a connecting of the dots, a deepening of understanding, a path we continue to follow and discover because we recognize it as the true path, having never believed it was so because we had been simply told and persuaded.

Oh, Forgetful Me

i won't forget, i say, it's true
that often more than not i do
those names of friends and strangers both,
birthdays, meetings, and of course...
but here, a vow of solemn oath:
that what i can remember true,
i will remind myself of you,
so when the mind flops off to bed,
my heart can recognize instead.

Thoughts on Hell - by Damon

Hell is a certain uncertainty. Its an anxious rebellion against ones nature and reflects the demon in us all. If "happiness is a warm gun" than certainly hell is the self loathing torment of mistakes well passed their due date. It is a pungent way of destroying yourself over things you have no control over: A torment of destiny.

If being at peace is repentance for past transgressions than hell must be the process that leads us there. The buddhists believe that life is suffering, and others would take that as saying life is hell in and of it self. This is not the case. If life were hell than how is happiness possible? This, life, is only a preview of both; hell because it's the best way to describe torment and paradise because it's the closest to nirvana anyone can humanly describe.

Tu-Pac Shakur once said something to the effect of, 'at best I'm in paradise, at worst its quiet, what's so bad about either, at least there will be peace'. Life is both, and some are tired of being torn between the two. If limbo is waiting, than life must be the previews for the rest of the movie.

Before You Go

Did you know that you deserve many hugs,
that you induce hugs of great friendship?
You are, perhaps a hug capacitor.
Deep down, we are all hug capacitors.
Some hug often, others seldom --
it just depends on what kind of capacitor you are.
What is a hug, you ask?
It is a sign, a spark of friendship,
welling up within, beyond the grasp of words,
a feeling of belonging that lingers
long after and more deeply than the warmth of arms
wrapped around our shoulders for a moment.
